The Yoga
What is Iyengar Yoga?

"Iyengar Yoga comes directly from the most classical hatha yoga tradition, but it has evolved into a very precise and clear method that is easily understood by the modern practitioner. There is a lot of attention paid to the technical alignment of the poses to keep the mind drawn inwards, but also focused and connected to reality.” - Adela Serrano

There will be 2 classes per day – a more active class in the morning and a restorative class in the evening which will be a mix of restful asanas and pranayama (deeply relaxing and rejuvenating breath work). Arrivals will be on the Saturday and classes will commence with a restorative session on the Sunday evening to allow everyone to recover from their travels. The last class will be on Friday evening before departures the following day (we have negotiated an excellent rate with the hotel for anyone wishing to book extra nights before or after the yoga holiday, see rates here).

Classes will be taught by Tamara Hockey and assisted by Sarah Constantinides. Tamara is an experienced and popular Iyengar Yoga teacher from Bristol’s Yogawest Studios. Tamara has just returned from her third trip to Pune to study directly with the Iyengar family, stoking her already passionate fire for teaching Iyengar yoga . Students say they enjoy Tamara’s very clear and thorough approach to teaching (Read student reviews here) . Tamara is an experienced pregnancy teacher and also assists in a dedicated Iyengar therapy class and this is reflected in the knowledge she brings to her ordinary classes.
